Serenity by the Cypress Grove: A Poetry Break

View of lake at the cypress grove

It’s crazy how serene it is outside today, thick with humidity but calming at the same time. The lake is so quiet and still that it is almost eerie. Which makes today a perfect day for writing.

Scratch that sentiment; the seagulls are having a time. They have gathered around the cypress grove and beach and have decided to have a reunion…so, there goes my quiet. I still got a little writing down today even with the distractions. I was able to write and work on another post for the blog and some poetry, but today I want to welcome you to Poetry Break.

Just a little break in between longer posts to share some words and poetry that I have finished or been working on. Check it out! There are also other pieces of work under my poetry page if you want to read more from me.

Burn

I try not to look for you

I try not to search you out

But like a moth to a flame

I still seek you, even while burning

I look for you,

Hoping you would hear me, see me, feel me

And pull me further into the flame.

But you won’t pull me in nor will you push me out,

Push me away from your pull, push me away from the burn

Do you enjoy it, watching me burn for you?

Watching my mind fill with chaos and disarray.

Trying to understand why you do what you do,

trying to understand if this is real for you.

Do you like the fact that this is driving me to the edge of my sanity?

Does it bring you joy, get you off?

I can’t see you being that type of person, your energy gives nothing but joy and softness

but this might be your dirty little secret.

Something you hold close, the reason why you can’t let me go

and refuse to force me out.
